  • Give an as accurate as possible description of your vehicle. Look up the year of build, the fuel consumption, prior to advertising your wheels.
  • Make good pictures from inside and outside. Add pictures of the camping gear installed, the cooking facilities, the beds, etc... You can add as many pics as you want.
  • Be creative and make a video of your vehicle to get more people intersted. Film your vehicle and the camping facilities or put yourself on tape and give a presentation on what's worth visiting near your location.
  • After a swap, give and get reviews !
  • Swap the map is about discouvering the world and making new friends. Lend your ride to family and friends so that they can swap as well and get the affordable experience of a lifetime !
  • Before handing over the keys, put something on paper. Good and clear agreements make good friends. Take some pics that show existing dents and scratches, if any. Put on paper that your swapping partner will pay fines for speeding or parking tickets.
  • Check with your insurance company if you need an extra insurance when swapping your vehicle. In most countries you won't but maybe you'd like to upgrade to an all risk insurance.
  • Get your international driver's licence in time at your city hall. Don't forget for some countries you will need a Visum and vaccinations. Check if your license wil be ok for the vehicle you will be riding. In some countries you need a special driver's license for a motorbike, a van heavier then 3,5 ton or a truck over 7,5 ton.
  • Before your swapping partner comes to pick up your vehicle, make it nice and clean and have it mechanically checked before lending it out.
  • It might be a good idea to get a recovery insurance for your wheels. If your swapping partner breaks down with your vehicle it would be sad if the trip would end there for him ! Check if the recovery insurance covers someone else driving with your vehicle !
